Vudu software update offers users more HD content
With the AppleTV “take 2” still not available, Vudu seems to be willing to put up a strong fight to remain in the market. It was just last week that Vudu lowered their price by 25% and have now added more HD content. A new update, that will bring the software to version 1.2 will add about 80 more movies and also adds an on-screen broadband instant-HD indicator. The movies are priced starting at $4 each, which is comparable to the AppleTV pricing. The indicator will help the instant start movies by giving users an alert as to whether or not their current broadband speed will be able to handle the movie without any delays in watching. PMA08 : Boda Lens Bags

Written by admin on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 in gadgets.

I’ve been through my share of camera bags. I think I own about 8 of them in various sizes. I started out with Lowepro, but I had some issues with their quality and on one of my bags in particular the buckle kept coming loose from the shoulder strap… DANGER!

I now use Tamrac bags exclusively and have 4 of them, from a fairly tiny one that only fits a camera and a flash to a gigantic one that fits all my medium format equipment. The one I now use almost exclusively is the Super Pro 17 (617). The 617 allows me to carry to bodies with lenses attached including my 70-200 f/2.8 L IS.

Toasted Notes Post-It dispenser
Assuming all you’ve got in your office are yellow Post-It notes, this toast-shaped dispenser is an absolute must-have for your desk. It isn’t clear what size of sticky notes fit into the cleverly named Toasted Notes accessory, but does it really matter? The dispenser normally sells for $7.50 but is currently listed as being “temporarily out of the stock.” Oh well. I only have green and pink Post-Its in my drawer, anyway. Via OhGizmo! An Infrared Hat: Hope for Alzheimer Patients?
Dementia due to Alzheimer’s Disease is a terrible thing to witness on a loved one. Scientists from the University of Sunderland in the U.K. claim they have the answer to the problem. The answer comes in form of a hat which is to be worn for ten minutes everyday. Creators claim that the hat bathes the brain in infrared light which, in turn, stimulates growth of brain cells. This new technology, if successful, could not only slow down rate of dementia but even, to a certain extent, reverse it. Critics express their doubts at the hat’s efficacy and underlying mechanism. According to the Health Blog in WSJ, however, there is a possibility that that this might just be true, although studies on infrared have only focused on strokes before. Posted Feb 2nd 2008 10:54AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Cellphones Not like Windows Mobile 6.1 is an elaborate mystery or anything — heck, we even know all about the improvements it’s slated to bring — but there’s nothing like a bucketful of screenshots surrounded by machine translated opinions to really revive that enthusiasm. We though we’d seen it all when it came to creative device destruction — iPod with a bullet: check, exploding laptops: check, everything in a blender: double check — but we’ve never seen anything spend over an hour on the highway and survive. Yet that’s exactly what Mike Beauchamp’s iPhone did after he left it on his trunk and drove off from a gas station — and the kicker is that just as he was about to run out and grab it, he watched it get run over by a semi truck. Shockingly, the unit still work perfectly, even receiving a call as Mike finally nabbed it. (Read the full post about ‘iPhone takes on semi, lives to tell the tale’…)
