Solar Cell Strap

Solar Cell Strap
Running out of power on your cell phone while having an important conversation really sucks, but thankfully there are impromptu add-ons like this cell phone strap from Strap-Ya that features a tiny solar cell which is capable of harnessing the power of the sun to charge your handset. It won’t be as effective as a real charger and judging by the footprint of the solar cell, you can’t really extend your talktime indefinitely. They Ship this February 9th. Samsung Series 7 Plasma | PN50A750T, PN58A750T, PN63A750T
Samsung’s new top of the range plasma, the series 7 provides the top spot for their plasma line up. Having also announced the lower ranged series 4 and 5, the Samsung series 7 plasma takes the cake. Pioneer ruled last year with their very impressive Kuro line up, and Samsung is fighting back with their new plasma. A common problem with plasma HDTVs is glare and reflection, the new series 7’s features Ultra FilterBright anti-glare technology, which reduces glare and does not effect the image, providing colorful, rich and clear pictures in bright rooms. A new software algorithm helps to reduce false image contouring and enhancing moving picture quality, leading to very impressive quality. Clean Communications from Bezeq

Clean Communications from Bezeq
Word on the street, or should I say, word on the web is that Israeli telecommunications company Bezeq is offering a “Clean Line” service to ultra-orthodox types. If you count yourself amongst the haredi Jews and want to block all communications that are deemed inappropriate by a council of rabbis, then this is the service you have been looking for. Seriously folks, I think that Bezeq is onto something here; I already do the same sort of thing myself though. I block incoming calls from those I deem offensive. My service only allows me to block up to twenty numbers, but that is enough to keep out all recent exes, former co-workers and the occasional jackass who “got your number from Dave, man.” My communications control on the weekend tends to involve my phone running out of batteries from spending too long playing Tetris. NVIDIA Acquire AGEIA Technologies

NVIDIA Acquire AGEIA Technologies
Was a matter of time till NVIDIA acquire AGEIA Technologies, Inc.. AGEIA’s PhysX wasn’t a success because almost nobody want to buy an expensive addon graphic card to improve gaming experience in few games. Lack of PhysX compatible games took AGEIA to nowhere. This acquire can save PhysX technology because I can bet that NVIDIA will include PhysX in next NVIDIA GPUs. If NVIDIA wil have power to convince games developers to adopt PhysX will be hard time for AMD… Link (Read the full post about ‘NVIDIA Acquire AGEIA Technologies’…)

The Apple Store is down…

The Apple Store is down…
We can’t say for sure what changes are being made to Apple’s product lines - if any - but the Apple Store is currently showing the classic splash-screen.  According to Gizmodo, the updates are going to be “minor,” and it’s only the U.S. store that’s down.  Will we see a spec boost in the Macbook line - or the Macbook Pro line?  Hopefully the latter since I just told a friend it was safe to buy a Macbook.  Whoops! More to come as we find out what’s going on.  In the meantime, check out Appletell. Keep up with the latest gadget goodness! - Subscribe to our feed → (Read the full post about ‘The Apple Store is down…’…)

For any would be kitchen maestros out there, this could be the thing for you. The spice gun is a clever little idea that allows you to blast your food with spices. Simply put: “Spice gun is different from the other casters, it has more fun! When you pull the trigger to compress the air in the air bag the handspike will push the bottom of the seasoning bottle to make the nozzle in the turntable to retract and spray the seasoning.” I do a lot of cooking in my extended seasonal vacations and I can see this thing serving a purpose. MagTable Coffee Table Tidies Up Your Periodicals

MagTable Coffee Table Tidies Up Your Periodicals
If you are the type of person that actually reads magazines, as opposed to just looking up stuff on the Internet, then this could be the coffee table that you are looking for. I don’t know if it really does anything for me, it reminds me of the newspaper racks that we have at work and no one wants to be reminded of work, right? It holds your magazines and it should clear up a bit of clutter. I know my coffee table’s bottom shelf is packed full of junk, the trouble is that none of that junk is of the periodical variety. The price is not too bad for a good quality coffee table, within reason anyway. This will set you back $158 and is available from Uncommon Goods. Intel, friend of memory, doubles phase-change capacity

Intel, friend of memory, doubles phase-change capacity
Posted Feb 5th 2008 5:50AM by Paul MillerFiled under: StorageMere days ago we were being treated to the adventures of Intel and Micron in their efforts to create the “world’s fastest” NAND drive, and now Intel’s got its hands in some phase-change memory, with a technology to double the storage capacity without adding much cost to the fabrication. Phase-change memory is being billed as the successor to flash memory, since it relies on the configuration of a material’s atoms instead of those dinky electrons we’ve been pushing around in our devices for the past few decades. Up until now phase-change memory has used two states to record data: loose and rigid organization of atoms (amorphous and crystalline). Video: Opera Mobile 9.5 redesign is lickity quick, slick
Posted Feb 5th 2008 5:22AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Cellphones Bring it, we say. Opera Mobile 9.5 is prepped and (almost) ready for beta release. Version 9.5 is noticeably faster thanks to a re-enginered Presto rendering engine and features a new browser interface and downloadable Opera Widgets. A World Factbook widget pulls data from Flickr, Google Maps, and CIA World Factbook simultaneously. Opera was more than happy to compare their new browser with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Mobile to demonstrate the obvious — IE mobile is cruel. Opera mobile 9.5 will see its first public unveiling starting February 11th at GSMA with a public Symbian, WinMo, and Linux beta expected soon.
