Dell acquires MessageOne from Michael’s brother Adam Dell
Posted Feb 13th 2008 7:02AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Desktops, Laptops In the oddball acquisition of the day, Dell just swept up email services provider MessageOne in a $155 million cash deal. How odd? Get this, MessageOne was co-founded by Michael Dell’s brother Adam who now manages investment funds — the very funds with partial ownership of MessageOne which Michael and his genetic crew are investors in. As such, Michael, his wife, and kids will receive $12M from the deal, Adam about $970k, and their parents about $450k. For Michael’s part, Dell says that he will donate his family’s proceeds direct to charity and was excluded from negotiating the acquisition. AT&T’s Palm Centro en route for launch next week?
Posted Feb 13th 2008 3:31AM by Chris ZieglerFiled under: cellphones, Handhelds Can’t you just feel the excitement in the air? AT&T stores are apparently starting to spout off about white, $99 Centros being available starting next Tuesday, February 19, and it seems like a pretty plausible date. We’ve separately been told that the cute lil’ Garnet handsets are expected to be shipping to stores some time this week — just in time to make the 19th a reality for customers eager to get their paws on the latest tech Palm has to offer — while previous intel had indicated that it’d definitely be available some time before early April. In other words: yeah, we believe it.[Thanks, anonymous tipster] (Read the full post about ‘AT&T’s Palm Centro en route for launch next week?’…)

Cobalt/Black DS Lite now available
Portable Nintendo DS Lite has just added a new color to it’s DS Lite palette - Cobalt/Black. This two-toned color joins traditional Polar White and more recently added Coral Pink, Onyx, Crimson/Black, and limited-edition Gold and Metallic Rose. While not too much is different aside from the fashion-forward skin, at 2/3 the size of the original, DS Lite continues to be perfect for packing. Its two bright screens with touch-screen technology are easily adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power. Both 3-inch screens can reproduce a true 3D view with gorgeous renderings. (Read the full post about ‘Cobalt/Black DS Lite now available’…)

OT Electric Light Shoes

OT Electric Light Shoes
It reminded me of that children’s shoe which lit up and squeaked as the child walked, but upon closer inspection, I realise it’s actually a work of art. Designed by Freedom of Creation (concept by StrawberryFrog and created by Janne Kytannen and Mads Thomsen) as a suggestion for the Onitsuka Tiger (an ASICS Japan premium heritage brand) Eletric Tiger campaign, the OT Electric Shoe stops the show with its unconventional design. Freedom of Creation created a 1 metre version for display purposes as well as 70cm and 40cm versions of the design for Onitsuka Tiger stores around the world. If you haven’t noticed yet, the designed was inspired by what a typical city in Japan might look like at night. (Read the full post about ‘OT Electric Light Shoes’…)

Apple posts Apple TV take 2 Guided Tour
Posted Feb 13th 2008 12:26AM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Home Entertainment Apple isn’t one to let a new product out the door without a video guided tour lately, and today’s release of the Apple TV take 2 update is no exception. Nothing too shocking in the walkthrough of iTunes rentals and the new Flickr features — when will Apple learn that all we really want is some hardcore settings menu action? — but fans of The Anonymous iPhone Guy and John, The Classy Leopard Dude will be disappointed to see that they’ve been replaced by Hannah, The Pleasantly Boho Apple TV Lady. Waffle hot dog on a stick

Written by admin on Wednesday, February 13th, 2008 in gadgets.

Waffle hot dog on a stick
I’ve seen lots of food on sticks at county fairs and Renaissance festivals, including corn dogs, steaks, frozen cheesecake (did they eat cheesecake during the Renaissance?), and kebabs of all varieties, but never have I wished to prepare food on a stick in the comfort of my own kitchen. And of all the food combinations I’ve thought of, a hot dog on a waffle has never occurred to me (though I have seen fried chicken on waffles, something that still boggles my mind). But now that I’ve seen this little appliance for making hot dogs surrounded by waffle on a stick (or crepe dogs, more traditional corn dogs, or just about anything that will cook on a grill and hold itself on a stick), I want to have a “food on a stick” party.
