Corsair bringing 16GB Voyager GT flash drive to CeBIT
Posted Feb 28th 2008 6:41PM by Darren MurphFiled under: Storage Don’t worry, you’re not losing it — yet, anyway. Corsair has indeed already launched a 16GB (and 32GB, for that matter) Voyager flash drive, but its forthcoming Voyager GT promises access speeds “up to four times faster” than standard USB 2.0 drives. Furthermore, this one comes housed in a water and shock resistant all-rubber casing, and could be entirely more appealing if that keyring slot were expanded to open bottles. Robot Coupe Bread Slicer: I Have No Words.

I know - this is another day of “wow that’s a gadget I would have never thought of” here at Coolest gadgets. You all will recall the friggin’ awesome Steak Toaster from last week (which is still the most awesome thing ever) - and now this week we have an innovation in bread slicing. I know what you’re thinking - “bread slicing? Is that the best thing since sliced bread?” as you dissolve into giggles at your own cleverness. Again, some clever (but slightly twisted) individual took a look at his salad shooter, then at his baguette lying on the counter and though “dude, I need something to shoot sliced baguette!” Thus the Robot Coupe Bread Slicer was born. MSI Green Design Notebook

MSI Green Design Notebook
MSI’s “Green Design” notebook touts itself to be the first anion notebook in the world, capable of releasing high amounts of anions to help clean and purify the air around you. Sounds pretty useful especially for those who are cooped up in the office all day long, with no chance to get any fresh air at all. For those who are not in the know, anions are considered to be “vitamins” of the air, capable of enhancing your body’s condition, promote nervous stability and recovery from fatigue while encouraging circulation of halted blood. Expect to see MSI’s anion-enabled notebook at CeBIT this year. (Read the full post about ‘MSI Green Design Notebook’…)

Honey, I shrunk the PicoZ MX-1

Guess thin is in, and so are the general sizes of gadgets and gizmos to come. Toys aren’t exempt from this effect too, with the PicoZ MX-1 Extreme being a much smaller version of its big brother and prides itself in being the smallest remote control helicopter in the world. Currently touted as the world’s smallest remote control chopper, this marvel of micro technology will flatter even the crummiest of pilots thanks to an auto stability system that makes woka-woka-ing around in tiddly rooms a doddle. Just like its bigger PicoZ siblings, the twin-channel Extreme has a crash-resistant polypropylene foam body and features super-wide infra-red control, a built-in lithium polymer battery and adjustable trim control - all this yet it weighs just 7 grams. BBC broadcasting Rugby Six Nations match in 3D
Posted Feb 28th 2008 11:45AM by Richard LawlerFiled under: HDTVNot happy letting us Yankees get away with all the 3D sporting action, the BBC plans to test a 3D HD broadcast of a Rugby Six Nations match next month. A lot like the NBA’s test with last year’s All-Star Game and NBA Finals, the March 8th game between Scotland and England will be captured by three camera rigs and then transmitted via satellite — unlike the fiber connection used by the NBA — to an audience watching a big screen with 3D glasses. Can Communicate, Inition and Axis are the companies forming 3DFirm, which is partnering with the Beeb to make the whole thing happen, including working out a new style of camera work and post production. Android gets handled, now with Street View
Posted Feb 28th 2008 8:44AM by Paul MillerFiled under: cellphones, Handhelds While Apple might have your attention at the moment with that impending SDK, the Android OS seems to be coming along quite nicely over at Google and the Open Handset Alliance. BBC’s Darren Waters got to peek “under the bonnet” with Andy Rubin himself, and has video to prove it. The OS was running on an unknown 3G touchscreen prototype, which also had a track ball at the bottom. The interface has come a long way since we saw it first, and browsing the web looks snappy and intuitive. (Read the full post about ‘Android gets handled, now with Street View’…)
