Trent Reznor, NIN confirms BitTorrent, website uploads
In a move that is not all that surprising, especially after Trent Reznor had confirmed being an OiNK user himself, Nine Inch Nails (NIN) have confirmed the legality of uploading and are actually encouraging the sharing Ghosts I. They have in fact not only made Ghosts I available for free directly from their own website, but also uploaded the 9 tracks (or torrents) to other places to include The Pirate Bay, What.cd and Waffles.fm. Not only was Ghosts I uploaded, the tracks were also uploaded as a nice high quality 320kpbs LAME encoded album. Of course I am fairly certain that any NIN fan will quickly shell out the $5 to purchase the complete collection, which also is available in a variety of formats. Eurocom’s M860TU Montebello 15.4-inch laptop rocks the Centrino 2
Posted Mar 8th 2008 2:14PM by Paul MillerFiled under: Laptops In case you missed it, it was Eurocom’s Phantom-X that managed to swipe that “fastest tested laptop” mark from the MacBook Pro last year — and totally ruin a perfectly good commercial. Now the company is back for more with the M860TU Montebello 15.4-incher. We’ll have to wait for the benchmarks to see how this one stacks up against the recent crop of Penryn laptops, but what’s new here is that the Centrino 2 “Montevina” chipset is under the hood, which should support faster Penryn processors, lower power consumption and some new fancy security features. iPod nano sparks bedroom fire, no humans harmed
Posted Mar 8th 2008 11:26AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Portable Audio, Portable Video Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a product proudly designed in Cupertino erupt, but it’s pretty safe to say this story could have had a much more tragic ending. Reportedly, an ipod nano owner recently awoke to a blaring fire alarm around 2:00AM, only to find his beloved PMP wrapped in flames on the bedroom floor. Thankfully, the fire was tiny enough to be extinguished without any major trouble, and no substantial damage of property or human flesh was tallied. As of now, we’ve no idea if the unit simply exploded or if surrounding circumstances are at least partly to blame, but you can bet your bottom dol (Read the full post about ‘iPod nano sparks bedroom fire, no humans harmed’…)

Night Vision Glasses makes driving at night much easier …

Night Vision Glasses makes driving at night much easier …

Darkness not only removes light from the scene when you’re driving, it also takes out contrast, leaving a night driver with the bright spotlight cast by the car’s headlights, and any other place where light is cast by streetlights, a full moon, billboard lights, etc. It’s a light/dark world with no degree of shade or contrast. High-end sports watch maker Tag Heuer has recognized that the ability to see varying degrees of light and dark can add that contrast and have created a pair of Night Vision glasses to help drivers to see – even when no light is cast. Here’s how they work: Originally designed to help drivers in the 24 Hours of LeMans auto race, the Tag Hauer glasses amp up contrast by correcting the low-light short-sightedness of the human eye, which only sees about 10% at night. Everex Cloudbook; Now available at NewEgg, select in-store Wal-Mart locations
While the Cloudbook may have gotten off to a rough very rough start, it seems we have some traction building. Initially you had to either make that purchase at ZaReason (who quickly dropped the Cloudbook after all those initial problems) or by placing your order, for delivery only at Wal-Mart. Since then the reviews are starting to get a little better, while it may not be a perfect device (what is), we are starting to see some positive points being mentioned. With that the availability is also getting better. The Everex Cloudbook is now available at online retailer NewEgg and is also available at select Wal-Mart locations for in-store purchases. The Cloudbook retains the $399 retail price at both NewEgg and Wal-Mart. (Read the full post about ‘Everex Cloudbook; Now available at NewEgg, select in-store Wal-Mart locations’…)

Pentax canceling the 645 Digital to focus on K-series DSLRs?
Posted Mar 8th 2008 2:29AM by Nilay PatelFiled under: Digital Cameras Pentax’s 31.6 megapixel medium-format 645 Digital has been announced for over a year now — we’ve even seen one in the flesh — but it’s never actually shipped, and now it looks like it never will. According to Impress, Pentax is killing off its digital medium format cameras to focus on K-series DSLRs, but the 645’s film versions will live on. Legend Of The King Puzzle
Legend Of The King Puzzle This is a box, a puzzle box that’s mind-bendingly, gut-wrenchingly infuriating in its construction. All it asks of you is to release the scroll that’s hidden inside. And that can’t be too much to ask of a grown-up, can it? Go on. We dare you. See price (Read the full post about ‘Legend Of The King Puzzle’…)

GeCube Genie PC; Complete with semi-useful detachable display

GeCube Genie PC; Complete with semi-useful detachable display
Yet another ultra-portable styled notebook is hitting the market, this time its the GeCube Genie PC and it comes complete with a trick of its own. In a twist on the tablet pc with a rotating display, the Genie PC’s display will actually separate from the notebook. The Genie PC features a 7-inch display, a pretty low 2GB of flash-based storage, runs a Linux-based OS and retails for $450. Now back to that detachable display, it kind of sounds better or at least more useful than it may prove to be with actual use. See the display is not touch-based. It does have a trackpad on the side, so you could still sit back and browse around the web, that is until you needed to type something.
