Posted Mar 10th 2008 2:13PM by Paul MillerFiled under: Gaming Hey kids, listen up. That guy with the red hat and blue overalls in the fancy new Super Smash Bros. game you just brought home? His name is Mario. He’s a neat guy. This Wii mod here features the lovable plumber in his natural habitat, World 1-1. On the other side is a pipe, his favored form of travel, which doubles as a Wiimote charger. Pretty great. OK, that’s it for today’s lesson, stay safe out there![Via Wii Fanboy] (Read the full post about ‘Super Mario Bros. Wii mod is doing it exactly right’…)

Its Official: The Beatles catalog is coming to iTunes
After what has amassed to literally years of Beatles and iTunes speculation and rumors ranging from everything to having the music added to a Yellow Submarine branded ipod. Well, and I say this as a huge Beatles fan, I am glad to say its not the Yellow Submarine iPod that has come true, but instead it’s much more exciting news as the complete Beatles catalog will soon be hitting iTunes. Thanks to a reported $400 million deal, signed by Sir Paul McCartney, himself and Ringo Starr as well as the families of both John Lennon and George Harrison will also benefit. We also cannot forget the record labels, EMI, Sony and Michael Jackson who all own at least partial shares of the collection as well. iPhone guns for PSP and DS market share as Gameloft commits, Id too
Posted Mar 10th 2008 6:53AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: cellphones, Gaming, Portable Audio, Portable Video While Apple continues to market the iPhone as a 3-in-1 device — web, phone, and ipod — it’s clear that Jobs has a 4th market clearly in his sights. It’s no accident that EA and Sega were both selected to demonstrate their skills with the iPhone SDK during last week’s press event. Now Gameloft, the worldwide number one mobile game publisher in terms of revenues — has committed to developing games for the iPhone. “Over 15 titles” are expected in 2008, in fact. Oh iphone, is there anything you can’t do with your 3D processor, multi-touch display, and 3-axis accelerometer? Plug It makes USB adapter cables even more convenient
Posted Mar 10th 2008 4:57AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Misc. gadgets A cable has to have a certain something to cause optical interrupt to these trade-show weary eyes. Then this comes along, the Plug It USB adapter. We doubt it’s the “world’s smallest” USB charging and data cable as they claim. Nevertheless, it’s definitely convenient and small enough to be slung from your keys or even that eyelet found on many mobile devices including most cellphones. At the moment, it’s available in a handful of proprietary models for connecting to a wide range of Samsung and Nokia devices. A mini USB version allows it to connect to just about everything else including Blackberrys, cameras, PMPs, MP3 players, etc etc. (Read the full post about ‘Plug It makes USB adapter cables even more convenient’…)

JVC’s Publio TX-700 handheld helps advertise, doubles as PMP
Posted Mar 10th 2008 1:31AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Handhelds, Portable Audio, Portable Video Here’s a curious one. Straight out of JVC’s Japanese laboratory comes the Publio TX-700, which was seemingly created to be used in stores to play back video files and promotional stills depending on what type of sale was ongoing. Still, we see a fair bit more potential in this 7-inch gizmo. It does look a tad bulky — we’ll give you that — but it manages to feature MPEG1/2, MP3, JPEG and BMP format support, an SD expansion slot, built-in stereo speakers, USB 2.0 connectivity and a programmable on / off setting. Unfortunately, we’re left wondering what the screen resolution, price and availability dat (Read the full post about ‘JVC’s Publio TX-700 handheld helps advertise, doubles as PMP’…)

Camera sees through clothes

A British company has come up with a camera that surprisingly enough, goes against all things prude in Britain. This unique camera has the special ability to detect various items such as weapons, drugs and even explosives hidden under one’s clothes from up to 25 meters away, making this a potential breakthrough where the security industry is concerned. Dubbed the T5000 camera from ThruVision, it utilizes “passive imaging technology” that helps identify objects via their natural electromagnetic rays, also known as Terahertz or T-rays which are emitted. This high-powered camera boasts the ability to detect hidden objects from up to 80 feet away, and can work just fine even when people are moving. MSI intros the Eee-ish Wind PC
Posted Mar 9th 2008 9:20PM by Joshua TopolskyFiled under: Laptops Apparently MSI is gearing up to release its own Eee competitor, tentatively called the Wind PC. There’s not a lot known about the system (which was shown at CeBIT), though it’s slated to feature an 8- or 10-inch, 1024 x 768 display, utilize Intel’s Atom CPU, will make 2.5-inch hard drive and SSD options available for storage, and will come with 1GB of RAM standard. The mini-laptops are set to range in price from £299 to £699 depending on configuration, feature 1GHz or 1.6GHz CPUs, and should first be available with a Linux build installed — though the company claims a Windows version will be made as well.
