Panasonic SV-SD870N D-snap DAP goes 100 hours strong
Posted Mar 18th 2008 9:24AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Portable Audio, Portable Video Nah, Panasonic’s SV-SD870N isn’t the longest lasting DAP we’ve ever laid eyes upon, but few would find the courage to kvetch over 100 hours on a full charge. The latest in Panasonic’s D-snap lineup, this unit promises to cut out “83-percent” of surrounding noise (and a good chunk of battery life) at the press of a button and supports SD / SDHC cards along with direct recording if plugged into a D-dock device. Furthermore, this one is set to arrive in red, black, silver, blue and white motifs, come stocked with a 2GB SD card, boast USB 2.0 connectivity and play nice with AAC, WMA and MP3 file formats. 3 Piece Motion-Activated Security System

Here’s an extremely affordable home security system that won’t break the bank - after all, it retails for a mere $14.99! You get two sensors that each operate independently; when motion is detected within 5′, it will sound an alarm for 5 seconds. Gives you a 5-second exit delay after you activate it. You also get a simulated security video camera that has a flashing red LED light, and actually “pans” side to side, to help deter potential intruders. Sensors and camera each have an on/off switch, and require three AA batteries (nine in total; none included). Sensors are each 3″x3-1/4″ tall; extend 2-1/4″ from wall. One Handed Xbox 360 Controller

The famous Ben Heck has just lifted the veil on its brand new Xbox 360 controller mod that allows you to play your favorite Xbox 360 games with just one hand. Unfortunately, this controller needs a couple of AA batteries to function, so it might end up being heavier than what some people are comfortable with. If the D-Pad that you see here looks familiar, that’s because it has been ported over from the playstation. Apparently Ben Heck is slaving away on a mass-produced version which will be pronouncedly different compared to this model. Are Lens Filters Necessary For Digital Cameras?
Filed in archive Accessories by jim on March 17, 2008 The answer is: no more or less than on traditional film cameras. You could fill a wall sized bookcase with tomes about photographic filters; but for our purposes we'll just concentrate on three, "UV", ND (neutral density) and Circular Polarizers. Of course you have to have a digital camera that accepts screw in filters in order to use them. But even if you don't check read through this posting because the next camera you get may have that option. First off check out this brief treatise about 3 of the most commonly used filters for digital cameras. OK now that you know what's being talked about and have one person's opinion here's where I stand on the issue. (Read the full post about ‘Are Lens Filters Necessary For Digital Cameras?’…)
