Upcoming Asus Eee PC’s to feature touchscreen, possible GPS support
Asus has unveiled plans to include touchscreens in the next generation of the Eee PC. These will be included in the Eee PC 900 which will feature the 8.9-inch display, and is sound like these updates will make most current Eee PC owners just a little jealous. According to Kevin Lin, who is the vice president of Asustek’s sales department the new Eee PC’s will feature touchscreen panels and possibly include GPS support. In addition to the touchscreen and GPS, the new lineup will also see a boost in both memory and storage. The standard RAM will be 1GB as opposed to the current 512MB and the storage will go up from the current 4-8GB to 8-12GB’s. Wireless Weather Station

Wireless Weather Station
Wireless Weather Station This truly schizophrenic weather station also thinks it’s a clock and a calendar. Which is fine by us. It’s a nifty little device that communicates wirelessly with remote sensors up to 30 metres away to forecast the weather using simple icons. Hovering drone could report for work at Miami-Dade police station

Hovering drone could report for work at Miami-Dade police station
Posted Mar 26th 2008 9:59AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Robots We didn’t even flinch when we heard that hovering drones employed by Big Brother were going to work in the UK, but somehow those buggers have managed to wander over to America’s east coast. Granted, the pilotless drones — crafted with good intentions by Honeywell — that are slated to report in to the Miami-Dade police department aren’t exactly the same, but they are expected to be used for similar duties. Sony BMG considering own digital music store

Written by admin on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 in gadgets.

An interview in German newspaper Franfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (not English) with Sony BMG CEO Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, has added fuel to the fire that the music company is setting up its own digital music service.

There have already been reports of music publishers teaming up for a digital music service called Total Music, but Schmidt-Holtz’s comments in the newspaper suggest this may not end up being the case. He said Sony BMG is looking into its own music service, but would not give a timetable for when it would come online.

New inkjet tech can “print” LCDs

New inkjet tech can “print” LCDs

Researchers have managed to discover a new inkjet technology that can “print” LCDs thanks to silver nanoparticles, laying down wiring made out of silver nanoparticles via a customized inkjet printer. Currently, TFT manufacturing consists of the development of masks which are then used to generate a pattern for the wiring on the surface of the semiconductor. The entire process is wholly dependent upon the mask, which results in a slower turnaround time. This also means minor design changes are a no-no, since a new mask will have to be created from scratch. With printing technology instead, one will be able to introduce both speed and flexibility to TFT manufacturing although initial attempts have shown success on a limited level. Mabinogi MMO coming March 27

Written by admin on Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 in gadgets.

Nexon, the company behind the popular MapleStory MMO is set to bring another free-to-play MMO to the U.S. on March 27. This one is called Mabinogi and already has 7 million register players across Asia.

Mabinogi takes a different stance on keeping the player entertained when compared to your traditional MMO. This game puts as much emphasis on day-to-day interests as it does on leveling up your character and going into battle. For example, in Mabinogi, you can get a job, go to school, and even learn to play an instrument all independently of the main questing elements.

Worlds Lightest Phone

Worlds Lightest Phone

The Modu Mini phone has now reached an official status of “the lightest mobile phone in the world”. It weighs a puny 1.4 ounces and measures just .3 inches thick. The record was recorded by the Guinness book of world records. The Modu Mini Phone is a gadget which acts as the core of a mobile phone and can work as a standalone device. The interesting thing is that the Modu also acts as a core of other “jackets” which can expand the functionality of the phone to make it in to a gaming phone, smartphone or music phone. Expect to see the Modu later on this year or early next year. Source - Fosfor Guest Post by Matthew of Gadget Venue. (Read the full post about ‘Worlds Lightest Phone’…)

T-Mobile’s latest pair of cheap Samsungs: meet the T229 and T339

T-Mobile’s latest pair of cheap Samsungs: meet the T229 and T339
We don’t know much of anything about these two, but as phoneArena points out, their model numbers suggest that they’ll shore up T-Mobile’s bottom shelf (so to speak — we don’t think T-Mobile stores really have a bottom shelf, per se). The T229 and T339 look the part, too, though we suppose the squarish T339 has a sorta stately, uptight appearance that we think could pass for a slightly higher-end device. No word on a release date or anything like that, but with any luck, we’ll find out a thing or two about ‘em at CTIA next week.
