PS3 Faucet

Written by admin on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 in gadgets.

I know that intense gaming often results in sweaty palms, so before pausing the game and digging into that pizza, why not take a toilet break and wash your hands instead? The PS3 Faucet from Jean Nouvel will definitely appeal to PS3 fans, where in place of a standard faucet head, you get PS button markings. O represents turning the faucet on while X turns it off. The triangles are used to adjust the temperature, relegating the square to the abyss as it is not featured here. No idea on how much this PS3 faucet will cost, but cheap isn’t the word I’m looking for.

Rumble Dualshock 3 Controllers To Ship
At long last, PS3 owners will be able to get their game on with rumble-enabled Dualshock 3 wireless controllers from next week onwards in order to enhance the gaming experience. There is an updated list of compatible games which you can refer to here, and those with an asterisk would require a patch download before the rumble features can be activated. Shouldn’t be a problem - just make sure your PS3 is connected online and you’re good to go. Oh, the release of these new Dualshock 3 controllers would mean we bid adieu to the lamented SIXAXIS. For good. (Read the full post about ‘Rumble Dualshock 3 Controllers To Ship’…)

Parrot DF7700 digital photo frame

Parrot DF7700 digital photo frame

Parrot has announced a brand new 7″ digital photo frame which it proudly claims to be “global”. The main reason for doing so being it accepting photos sent to it from a GSM cell phone through MMS, which means you will be able to update your digital photo frame for your family and friends to see despite being half the world away. Sounds like a pretty nifty idea, but make sure your phone’s digital camera is pretty decent to start with (VGA quality will just not do these days), and also ensure you are on some sort of cheap data roaming plan (now that’s an oxymoron if I ever saw one) since sending MMSes isn’t exactly the most pocket-friendly action to take while you’re traveling. There seems to be a big push in the mobile market to be able to access video from anywhere. Another desire from consumers has been the ability to access the same information whether they are on their computer, social network or mobile device. That’s why Veveo has announced the new vtap eed service which will allow you to access web video from any source.

Now it no longer matters whether you want video on your computer, mobile device or through your social network. The vtap Feed service will learn user preferences based on search queries, interest in categories and social network user profiles.

40+ Ubisoft games heading to Steam

Written by admin on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 in gadgets.

Just a couple of weeks after Steam started selling digital copies of the Unreal games, Ubisoft has announced it is bringing more than 40 games to Valve’s online distribution service.

Right now you can get Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell with a 10% discount if you purchase them before April 8. Another coupe for Steam is the fact you can also pre-order the PC version of Assassin’s Creed, so you will be able to play it the moment it is released via Steam’s pre-loading service.

Other titles we can expect to see in the near future include a selection of their Tom Clancy games, Heroes of Might and Magic games and the IL-2 Sturmovik collection.

Facebook expands, plans to adds 22 more languages
Facebook continues to prove that it’s a social network like no other by using a new user-powered translation engine for their site. They’re going to use this to add 22 more languages to Facebook so that it will be accessible to more people across the world. Currently, Facebook is only available in four main languages: English, French, German and Spanish. This move will no doubt add to the site’s overall visibility and accessibility. As mentioned previously, the translation engine will be a user-powered, so if you’re interested in contributing to Facebook’s expansion, you may do so by going through the simple application process here. Jabra BT4040 Has Display

Jabra BT4040 Has Display
The Jabra BT4040 has been making its fair share of rounds across news sites for quite some time already, and for very good reason. It features a minimal LCD display that does away with the guessing game where you try to figure out just how many blinks of the LED means what. In addition to this much easier-to-understand format, the BT4040 weighs a mere 10 grams, where you will hardly feel it on your ear while a Digital Signal Processor helps to improve voice calls, be it incoming or outgoing. There is no word on pricing or availability yet. (Read the full post about ‘Jabra BT4040 Has Display’…)

Phonofone II iPod Passive Amplification Speaker

Written by admin on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 in gadgets.

Phonofone II iPod Passive Amplification Speaker
While the Phonofone II might appear to have closer ties to the RCA brand, it’s actually designed to complement your iPod with its sleek, white, ceramic finish. Designed by Tristan Zimmermann, what’s truly unique about this speaker is that it doesn’t contain any electronics whatsoever, but relies on your ipod’s earbuds as its analog audio source. Instead of connecting it directly to the headphone jack like with most speakers, you actually leave your earphones connected and place them in the Phonofone’s resonance chamber. Using the virtues of horn acoustics, the speaker promises to boost the audio output coming from those earphones up to 55 decibels, or roughly equivalent to the max volume on a pair of laptop speakers. Xbox 360 with Blu-ray to spark price war with Sony PS3?

Xbox 360 with Blu-ray to spark price war with Sony PS3?
Posted Apr 2nd 2008 4:23AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Gaming, HDTVDigiTimes is feeling pretty confident about the rumors they started yesterday regarding the Xbox 360 with integrated Blu-ray. They are so confident that they’re predicting a price war as Microsoft takes on Sony’s PS3 at its own game. Their sources claim that the Blu-ray Disc drive will cost Microsoft between $95 and $100 — much higher than the $18 to $20 DVD drives already found in the Xbox 360. Microsoft is of course, expected to sell its new Blu-ray rig at a loss as is customary in the console market. Sony may then be forced to lower the cost of the PS3 and/or retaliate by increasing Lite-On’s cost for the Blu-ray components (like the BD-ROM pick-up heads) purchased from Sony.
