Eee PC 900 Coming this May
Asustek has finally confirmed that its long-awaited Eee PC 900 will be available in the US when May 12th rolls around. You will be able to choose from Linux and Windows versions, with the former featuring 4GB of flash memory and 16GB of SSD, while the latter has less with 4GB of flash memory and an 8GB SSD. I would’ve liked to see both have the same amount of SSD, but I guess that’s not to be since Bill Gates isn’t benelovent enough to make the Windows XP licesen free. Both models retail for $549.99 a pop and will feature a very welcome 8.9″ display. (Read the full post about ‘Eee PC 900 Coming this May’…)

BlackBerry 9000 to arrive in two versions
RIM’s upcoming 9000 mobile phone is quickly becoming one of the most highly anticipated handsets of the year. We already have the confirmed specs on this device and it looks quite exciting, almost like a cooler version of the Curve, but with WiFi and 3G connectivity, as well as an updated UI. With the release of the 9000 BlackBerry we will have to be braced not only for tough competition from the iPhone with its upcoming SDK, but also the iphone 2.0, which will have 3G connectivity, and even Google’s Android platform. And this is after blackberry figures out how to deal with two problematic issues that come with using that 3G connection–limited battery life and a high price. Goldstriker Goldeneye Edition

Goldstriker Goldeneye Edition
Now this might have come many years too late, with Goldeneye being the James Bond film that features Pierce Brosnan. Still, I believe classics never go out of style, hence the Goldstriker Goldeneye edition of the iphone. You will get 24-carat gold on its front bezel and rear logo, but what makes this stand out from the rest is the bespoke coloring of the full rear including the bottom section antenna piece. Just like the Solar Star edition that featured paint used on an actual Lamborghini Gallardo, the Goldeneye Edition boasts a metallic winter gold finish of the 2008 Jaguar XK model. I suppose if you could afford the car, surely a £749.95 asking price for this iPhone is not too much to ask? (Read the full post about ‘Goldstriker Goldeneye Edition’…)

BlissLights Laser Wand

BlissLights Laser Wand
I think we all know how much fun a laser pointer can be, but just picture how much fun it would be if you had a device that could make many laser points all at once. I can only assume this was the idea behind creating the BlissLights Laser Wand. This uses what the company calls a “high diffraction efficiency digital holographic optical element”, which creates a shining starfield effect on any wall. Just think of it as a disco ball without the mirror ball or need of reflected light. At first I wondered what to do with device, but these pictures to the left gave me some ideas. It certainly would liven up any party for younger people. (Read the full post about ‘BlissLights Laser Wand’…)

SAN MATEO, California — Attach a set of wheels to a saw’s motor, set it between a pair of wood guides, and you’ve got a drag racing power tool!

Based on this simple idea, Jim Mason and Charles Gadeken started the original Power Tool Drag Races seven years ago.

Bezos tries to Kindle renewed interest in e-book reader
It sounds like a re-launch; an open letter this week on the Amazon.com website from founder/CEO Jeff Bezos announcing that his Kindle book reader is “in stock and ready for immediate shipment.” Never mind that the electronic, wireless reader was actually ready to ship in November 2007, garnering headlines at the time in all the major national daily newspapers and the cover of Time Magazine. Bezos’ big bet on e-reading sells for $399, weighs just over 10 ounces, is as wide as a trade paperback and uses cell phone networks to wirelessly download books, magazines, newspapers and blogs from Amazon’s library.
