Flock 2.0 Showing more Potential

Written by admin on Thursday, June 19th, 2008 in gadgets.

As far as 3 years back, Flock has been trying to integrate it all together –multiple online accounts, activities, profiles, feeds and the like. While version 1.0 was not necessarily bad, Flock version 2.o – built on Firefox 3 foundations – looks to be a solid integrative application, even at beta testing stage.

The first thing users will notice on Flock 2.0 is the speed. Switching between features is very smooth, unlike the first version in that while it was never slow, it used to process feature-switching a bit more. And it is a bit-more feature-packed the second time around.

Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid priced at $40,000
by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted Jun 19th 2008 at 1:35PM Chevy’s Bob Lutz crushed some dreams this morning when he announced that the Volt hybrid electric vehicle will run closer to $40,000 as opposed to the $30,000 he originally implied. To make us feel a little better about that extra $10k, he offered the fact that Chevrolet would be losing money on the first-generation Volt and Congress may offer up at $7,000 tax credit for plug-in hybrids anyway. So, in other words, we should be happy that it’s as cheap as $40,000, right? (Read the full post about ‘Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid priced at $40,000′…)

Sidekick LX Video Quality Preview

Written by admin on Thursday, June 19th, 2008 in gadgets.

Here’s a preview of the Sidekick LX Video Recording quality, as you can see it’s postage stamp sized (176×144 px) and the quality isn’t even close to fantastic. We’ve opted not to embed a youtube video as it looks even worse when they Compress and stretch it out, but we’ve posted a Quicktime player of the raw video right off the LX.

Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Peek

Written by admin on Thursday, June 19th, 2008 in gadgets.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad X200 ultraportable notebook has experienced a leak today, and everyone is excited at how this 12″ notebook looks like. Set to oust the X61, the X200 has a keyboard as generous as the X300, but it does away with the trackpad to settle for the ThinkPad’s trackpoint instead. There won’t be any optical drive inside as well, which means the X200 weighs a featherlight 2.9 pounds. It will be powered by Intel’s Centrino 2 platform and consumes a mere 25 watts while operating. Other features include a 200GB hard drive, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot and a 1.3 megapixel webcam.

Nanosolar solar film rolls off the presses at 100 feet-per-minute

Written by admin on Thursday, June 19th, 2008 in gadgets.

by Donald Melanson, posted Jun 19th 2008 at 8:25AM It looks like those curious to see just how Nanosolar turns out their solar panels for less than a dollar per watt need wonder no more, as the company has just posted a video that shows the thin film solar cells rolling off the presses at speedy 100 feet-per-minute. That’s apparently possible thanks to what the company claims is the industry’s first 1GW production tool, and its use of its own long-in-development nanoparticle ink, which eliminates the need for expensive high-vacuum chambers (though the printer still costs a hefty $1,65 million). RV770-based AMD Radeon HD 4850 gets benchmarked
by Darren Murph, posted Jun 19th 2008 at 10:44AM Judging by the fact that AMD tipped the whole world off to its upcoming RV770-based GPUs earlier this week, we don’t suppose it’ll be too upset that a 512MB MSI Radeon HD 4850 happened to land a little early in the PC Perspective labs. Design wise, there’s nothing too out of the ordinary — a single-slot cooler design, twin dual-link DVI ports, single 6-pin PCIe power connector and one goofy looking monster that you’ll never see again once this thing gets installed. Care to see how it fared when facing the pressures of modern day gaming? (Read the full post about ‘RV770-based AMD Radeon HD 4850 gets benchmarked’…)

Lexon Around Clock Sets Time To Run Full Circle

Written by admin on Thursday, June 19th, 2008 in gadgets.

There’s just something about unconventional clock design that lures us geeks in like nothing else. Perhaps it has to do with the allure of physics and the constant progression of time. Or maybe it’s just because there are a ton of really cool clock designs. Whatever the reason, cool clocks never cease to impress us.

The Lexon Around Clock is no exception. Resembling something like an egg-timer flipped on its side and smashed flat into a circular dial, the Around Clock is an analogue time piece which displays the time with cylinder rotation. Basically, the middle portion revolves as the time progresses.
