Hmmph. Outside of Samsung’s blisteringly hot SP-A800B, we’re fairly certain Panasonic’s latest duo are the most impressive at InfoComm. Putting those XGA / WXGA units to shame, the PT-DZ12000U packs a drool-worthy WUXGA resolution (1,920 x 1,200) and 12,000 lumens to boot. The PT-D12000U checks in with the same three-chip DLP engine and lumen count, but eases up on the pixels with just 1,400 x 1,050. Furthermore, both units boast a System Daylight View to keep things visible even in well lit rooms, and the built-in Ethernet port enables remote monitoring and control through a web browser. Dash Express now officially $300

Written by admin on Friday, June 20th, 2008 in gadgets.

by Ryan Block, posted Jun 20th 2008 at 2:12PMLooks like that sale at Amazon’s turned into a full blown price cut — Dash has officially lowered the price on the Dash Express from $400 to $300 (not including service, of course). Of course, this can be interpreted one of two ways: they’re selling so well that economies of scale have kicked in, and everyone saves money buying the GPS — or, the fresh-faced company’s sole product isn’t doing very well in the marketplace, leading to this second price drop so far. We’re hope it’s not the latter though, we’re definitely stoked to see where else Dash can take us.

Update: Dash let us know that sales are meeting expectations, and they’re capitalizing on the big uptick in new buyers during the last $300 price promotion. (Read the full post about ‘Dash Express now officially $300′…)

Jetsleeper Turns Economy Class Seating Into Sleepy Land

Written by admin on Friday, June 20th, 2008 in gadgets.

Forget about it. If I’m on a plane these days, there is just no method for allowing my brain to relax enough to sleep. And not for the reasons you think. Security fears are one thing, but economy class seating is clearly not getting any more comfortable. Even with a airport mandated pillow, our heads just feel a little too far projected in front of our bodies to take a nap.

This helpful gadget might be able to help people like me, who are used to sleeping in a comfortable bed rather than a stiff, awkwardly padded airplane seating scheme. The Jetsleeper is a gadget specifically designed to help flight passengers get some shut eye before they reach their destination.

ASUS gets official with Atom-powered Eee Box
by Darren Murph, posted Jun 20th 2008 at 1:27PM Well, what do you know? Those rumored specifications for ASUS’ not-secret-at-all Eee Box were spot on. The outfit has just now gotten around to getting official with said mini PC, which checks in with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, an 80GB hard drive, multicard reader, 802.11n WiFi and gigabit Ethernet. As predicted, you’ll find Windows XP Home running the show, and ASUS is spicing things up by tossing its newly unveiled Express Gate fast boot technology on here too. Huawei E180 HSPA USB Modem

Written by admin on Friday, June 20th, 2008 in gadgets.

Huawei lays claim to the world’s slimmest HSPA USB stick modem - the e180. This diminutive device measures a mere 10mm thin, and is capable of supporting both HSPA/UMTS and GSM/GPRS/EDGE network technologies. This translates to superior uplink speed rates of up to 5.76Mbps and a downlink of up to 7.2 Mbps. Features include a rotatable USB connector, making it the perfect plug-and-play device for mobile broadband users. Since the USB connector can be turned around, you don’t have to worry about losing a cover while keeping the connector protected. Interestingly enough, the E180 is also equipped with a microSD memory card slot that can support up to 8GB of additional memory, turning this into an impromptu USB flash drive.

Record music from the radio with an Intempo Rebel

Written by admin on Friday, June 20th, 2008 in gadgets.

Record music from the radio with an Intempo Rebel
Back in the 90’s when cassette tapes were all the rage (and people said things like “all the rage”) it was common for people to keep a blank tape in their boombox so as to catch their favorite song playing on the radio. That seemed fairly harmless, and it’s doubtful that the MPAA ever considered taking action on anyone for doing that. However, using this radio to record music might land you in some hot water. This radio has a very cool function, which will record the most-played tracks from an FM station to an SD card in MP3 format. I’m not entirely sure how it determines which songs have been played the most, but it will apparently clean up the track and chop out any commercials or DJ talk. Shadow Caddy

Written by admin on Friday, June 20th, 2008 in gadgets.

Shadow Caddy
Golf nuts will definitely find the Shadow Caddy something worth considering for their next purchase. This is a remote controlled golf caddy, carrying your clubs with you as you traverse across all 18 holes. You will be able to set the Shadow Caddy in two modes - “Follow Me” and “Park”, which I think are pretty self-explanatory. The Shadow Caddy is smart enough not to collide into objects by reading the landscape around, in addition to help from its integrated anti-collision detectors. Of course, this technology is not perfect, so should the Shadow Caddy bump into an object, it will stop in its tracks immediately. (Read the full post about ‘Shadow Caddy’…)
