Original Project Grizzly suit being auctioned off

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Troy Hurtubise has certainly auctioned off a few grizzly fighting suits before (not to mention the Halo-inspired Trojan), but this is likely your one and only shot at procuring the original Project Grizzly Mk VI suit worn by Troy himself in the generally unknown cult classic Project Grizzly. The suit is being offered to the highest bidder as the Grizzly Proof exhibit in Toronto shuts down, and while the starting bid sits at $500, it’ll take upwards of 40 grand before Mr. Hurtubise’s debts associated with the suit are cleared. Violight’s izap UV toothbrush sanitizer

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Apparently I’m on a disinfecting kick today, because this is the 2nd one of the day.  This time though it’s actually sold in the US and it’s a case that not only carries your toothbrush, but disinfects it as well.  Which is great for when it is at home, just purely because of the bacteria in the air in the bathroom.  It would also be nice for travelers since research has shown that those that stay in hotel rooms go home with germs and tend to get a cold or the flu.

The company that makes the izap (Violight) actually makes several different similar sanitizing products.  All of which use UV technology to eliminate 99.9% of the germs.  This is the cheapest and most portable, but if you’re looking for something that does several at once, you can check out the site for more.  The izap itself comes with a free toothbrush and automatically will start working when you close the lid.  It comes in clear, blue and orange and is being sold for $19.95.  You can buy it online or at Walgreens.

Packard Bell reveals gargantuan ipower X2.0 gaming desktop

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Wait a second — are absurdly large, overdecorated gaming desktops making a comeback? With Acer’s Aspire Predator and ASUS’ ARES CG6155 lighting up eyes everywhere, we’re beginning to think yes — particularly when you take one glance at Packard Bell’s elephantine ipower X2.0. Revealed at the Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris, this beast features a tremendously large, high-gloss chassis, a liquid cooling system, a dedicated lock to keep PCB snatchers at bay and a nice array of components including Intel’s Core 2 Quad / Extreme processor, a Blu-ray optical drive, hybrid TV tuner, up to 3TB of storage, a NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2, a 21-in-1 card reader and a gaming keyboard / mouse. Court forces YouTube user data out of Google for Viacom

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Back in March last year Viacom sued YouTube for the sum of US$1 billion in damages relating to copyright material appearing on the video site. The original suit listed 160,000 examples of infringing YouTube videos and claimed they had been viewed 1.5 billion times by visitors to the Google-owned website.

Now Judge Louis Stanton, presiding over the case, has ruled that Google needs to hand over data showing the viewing habits of all visitors to YouTube. That data includes the login names and IP addresses of all registered YouTube users. Viacom has requested the information to prove that their copyrighted material was uploaded to the site and viewed.

Team Fortress 2 Dispenser case mod completes Orange Box trifecta

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Well, we suppose the first two Orange Box mods we saw were Portal-related, but a love for Half-Life 2 is really implied in anything Valve-related, and this here Team Fortress 2 case mod feels like the end to a beautiful, Orange story — or perhaps the beginning of another. We’ll confess, we got our ass handed to us enough times in TF2 to make it a rare incident when we’d even make it to a Dispenser, but there’s love for this glorious blue box all the same, and TiTON has certainly done his homework in building the thing. Props all around. (Read the full post about ‘Team Fortress 2 Dispenser case mod completes Orange Box trifecta’…)

£10,000 diamond-clad Nokia N95 borders on gaudy
by Darren Murph, posted Jul 7th 2008 at 10:43AM To be fair, Continental Mobiles’ diamond-encrusted Nokia N95 is a real bargain at £10,000 ($19,813) when compared to Amosu’s £12,000 alternative, but seriously, real richies should be holding off for the evolutionary N96, anyway. Wall-E Robot: For The Kids

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Wall-E Robot: For The Kids
The Wall-E is a robot cartoon (and title of a movie) made by Pixar which will be presented on the theaters on the UK during the upcoming weeks. Kids will probably fall in love with the Wall-E robot in 3 seconds or maybe less, so get ready to spend 40. This replica named U-Command WALL-E is basically a remote controlled robot, that is able to do a lot of moves, turns, dancing, and even a bit of speaking. There are other models such as the iDance WALL-E. Like the name suggests it is related with music and includes an audio jack that is compatible with almost all MP3 players and other audio sources. In this case, the robot’s chess works as a speaker and the price tag is cheaper - 20. (Read the full post about ‘Wall-E Robot: For The Kids’…)

LG Secret First Look Review - Pocket-lint

Written by admin on Monday, July 7th, 2008 in gadgets.

Pocket-lint does a first look review of the LG secret and writes, “The LG Secret sports HSDPA and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, a 5 megapixel camera, accelerometer for motion sensor gaming and plenty of other gems up its sleeve…In our two brief plays we were unable to test the capability of the digital camera although can say that you’ll be able to capture still images and record movies with a number of scene modes and manual setting like other LG mobiles, and then edit them in phone just like the company’s Viewty handset.”

My, my, Google. It seems the words “Google” and “Privacy” can be found in quite a few articles across the internet as of late. Quite a few falling on the non-flattering side. Perhaps that’s why Google finally made a point of updating their main page to a never-before offered link to their privacy terms AND posting about the update on their corporate blog.

The issue was brought to the light in the first place by NY Times reporter Saul Hansell, when he asked if the company was violating California law by not posting a link to its privacy policy on its home page. The answer? Yes. That is when privacy advocates jumped in and became involved.
