Play as your favorite mascot in NCAA ‘09 All-Play

Written by admin on Friday, July 11th, 2008 in gadgets.

College football is a unique beast. People either love it or hate it. Growing up in the land of the ever-powerful SEC, I tend to reside on the “love it” side. For people like me, EA has introduced a fun, new feature in the Wii version of their NCAA Football ‘09. Haven’t you always wanted a team full of nothing but mascots? Good, because now you can have just that. The reason it’s on the Wii version of the game is the new All-Play line that EA has planned for all of their sports game. Essentially, it’s a version of the game that is to require a minimal amount of skill to play while utilizing a variety of simple-to-understand control schemes.

Pod Driver : Is that an iPod?
What looks like an ipod that got into an accident is actually a flash drive (USB 2.0) that borrows heavily from its famous cousin. And in the process, retains all the cuteness as well. The face of the drive resembles the iPod and is made of flexible silicon – so that it bends to expose the USB connector when you stick it into your computer. The drive is available in capacities of 1GB ($40) and 2GB ($50). Via Fosfor gadgets. (Read the full post about ‘Pod Driver : Is that an iPod?’…)

New Nintendo Title - Captain Rainbow

Written by admin on Friday, July 11th, 2008 in gadgets.

There is a lot to say about this newly-discovered embedded video from WiiFolder. Supposedly, it is an ad for a new Nintendo title titled Captain Rainbow. From the name, you may have gathered that the titular character is a superhero who wears A LOT of rainbows. According to 1UP (who somehow is the only site with any info on this game), the story is pretty crazy.

The Captain Rainbow of the title is the alter ego of Nick, a typical geeky guy with a penchant for loud, flower-themed clothing.

Pets Eye View: See things from Fido’s POV
Ever wonder how your pet sees the world? I can imagine that it is pretty low of the ground, and food is always so high up. Now, you don’t have to imagine anymore with the Pets Eye View digital camera! The Pets Eye View clips to a pet’s collar like an ID tag, and is completely water resistant. The camera can be programmed to snap a photo every one, five, or fifteen minutes, and store them in its internal memory. These pictures can be downloaded onto your computer with the included USB cable. This cable can be used to charge the lithium ion battery inside the camera. I am all for putting a camera on cat or a dog. It definitely gives a new meaning to the word watchdog. Hee hee hee. (Read the full post about ‘Pets Eye View: See things from Fido’s POV’…)

USB Popcorn Maker Almost Certainly a Scam

Written by admin on Friday, July 11th, 2008 in gadgets.

Were certain that this is a fake, but it’s also a lot of fun. The USB popcorn maker uses the power from your computer’s USB port to power an LED, which we are tricked into believing will pop kernels right there on your desk. Sadly, we doubt it would ever work. As Gadget Lab’s Dylan Tweney says, “I don’t believe it. There is no way a 5 watt USB cord is going to provide enough power to pop corn.”

What is it with popcorn?

The entourage of the Philippine president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has an unusual secret weapon. Her security team defends the head of the government with umbrellas. Not ordinary umbrellas, but unbreakable fighting umbrellas. Watch the video to see the combat-brolly in action, and marvel as Thomas Kurz (”the world’s foremost expert on flexibility training”) viciously splits a watermelon in two.

The Philippine Secret Service are rightly pleased with their $180 umbrellas, and it appears that the news travels fast in the elite world of presidential bodyguards, as we see in this testimonial:

Your product is simple and affective as we saw in your video.

Jambaaro Pedal Car Design

Jambaaro Pedal Car Design
The Jambaaro pedal car design from designer Benoît Angibaud targets rural and remote areas, and this is one green vehicle since it doesn’t require any gas to run. It is literally a pedal-car that comes with a stretcher, requiring two people to pedal it. Of course, if things get too steep for regular leg power, there is always the solar panels on top that generate electricity from solar energy to help you along. A modern version of the Flintstones vehicle, eh? (Read the full post about ‘Jambaaro Pedal Car Design’…)

Folks who love the sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica will definitely foam at their mouths with Sci-Fi Channel producing a limited run of Galactica toasters. What makes these so special? Other than the fact that you have an engraved Battlestar Galactica image on the front of the toaster, it will also brand your toasts with an image of a Cylon. I’ve no idea how limited this run is, but you can be sure a few years down the road, the $65 asking price of today might balloon upwards to even beat inflation.
