Jungle trek friends fall out… over MP3 player (kind of)

Jungle trek friends fall out… over MP3 player (kind of)
It’s an ambitious project: trekking 4,000 miles of jungle paths over an 18 month period. I feel tired just thinking about it (then again, I feel tired just thinking about trekking into the kitchen for a snack, which might explain why it’s almost dinner time and I still haven’t had lunch. But I digress…) I can’t think why friends Ed Stafford and Luke Collyer, both from Britain, thought that an ipod (plus solar charger) wasn’t an essential item for their trip in the first place. Or why they believed that they wouldn’t get sick of each others’ company after so darn long. But they were optimistic and naive, and their story came to a sorry head on day 68 of their journey, when Luke told Ed he was sick of the sight of him. Neonode N2 Software Gets Upgraded
The Neonode N2 has received a new software upgrade that will see a slew of new features added (but of course, if not, there wouldn’t be any point to the upgrade now, would there?). This upgrade will see the addition of Winwap Technologies’ browser, a more manageable user interface, a new music player that provides an easier experience when it comes to performing housekeeping for tracks on your cell phone and a Sudoku game of all things. It is also nice to note that this software upgrade comes with an “extended area for text messaging”. Nice - but how many people do you know actually have the Neonode N2? Adeona service offers free tracking for lost laptops

Written by admin on Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 in gadgets.

Losing your laptop, or worse, having it stolen can be both a stressful and very upsetting experience. It may have sensitive business information on it, personal details that could be used for ID theft, or irreplaceable data such as family photos and video footage.

Adeona hopes to minimise the problems of a missing laptop, and hopefully recover it very quickly, by offering a totally free, open source tracking service to users.

Adeona works just by installing a software client on the laptop of your choice. That software then runs in the background of the machine and sends location updates to a distributed storage service using OpenDHT.

Wii Music at E3 2008
Nintendo looks set to have hit a rich vein of form, having announced some pretty interesting Wii peripherals yesterday with a new title, Wii Music ready to offer the regular joe a chance to orchestra a team of musicians, never mind if you have a solid musical background or not. Wii Music takes after Rock Band and Guitar Hero, albeit in a much more casual manner as gamers can simulate over 60 instruments simply by moving their bodies in tandem with the Wiimote and pressing the right buttons so that the tunes played won’t sound like a wailing cat. If you prefer to play drums, this is where you can make good use of your sweat-soaked Wii Balance Board. Do you think this will catch on with a frenzy? DIY LED Candles can be Blown
With kids living in a digital world these days, how many of them have experienced the joys of blowing out actual wax candles on their birthday cake? Chances are their parents would’ve gotten them LED candles instead, but the more industrious ones will be able to come up with the DIY LED candles that are able to be blown out whenever the thermistor is blown upon hard enough to warrant a temperature drop, resulting in the LEDs turning off. Guess you’ll get a digital wish when that happens, but only in your pixellated dreams. At least you don’t have to worry about eating some wax accidentally with this.
