Verizon Wireless has a lot to celebrate after announcing net customer additions of 1.5 million for the second quarter. The numbers puts the current Verizon Wireless subscriber roll at 68.7 million which includes 66.7 million retail customers. The numbers gave the company confidence in claiming that U.S. customers use the Verizon Wireless more than any other wireless brand.
The company’s financial and operational results are expected to be announced as a part of its quarterly consolidated results. Verizon Wireless states that it has “the most reliable” coast-to-coast wireless voice and data network in addition to the largest 3G wireless broadband network. More details regarding the company’s second quarter performance is expected on July 28th.
Wow, 1.5 million net customer additions is an impressive number. Now just imagine that this doesn’t even include the addition of Alltel which Verizon Wireless has indicated that it plans to acquire for US$28 billion. The Alltel acquisition will add another 13 million customers to Verizon Wireless giving it the distinction of having the largest number of wireless subscribers for a U.S. wireless company.
