NextWorth - Trade in or sell your old iPod or iPhone

NextWorth - Trade in or sell your old iPod or iPhone
Kanchana ’s recent article on Abunda Trade reminded me of NextWorth which actually pays you cold hard cash for your gently used ipod or iPhone or lets you trade them in for an upgrade. For example, you can get a trade-in value of over $200 for a 1st Gen iPhone (16GB). Customers simply enter the model and condition of their current iphone or iPod online and a value is calculated based on the entered model and condition. Once the customer accepts the estimate, NextWorth sends a box, the customer sends the device and a certified check will arrive in seven to 14 days. It certainly is safer than selling independently. If you’ve tried it, let us know. (Read the full post about ‘NextWorth - Trade in or sell your old iPod or iPhone’…)

Anna Konda Prototype

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 in gadgets.

Let me introduce you to this Norwegian beauty known as Anna Konda. Sounds great, until you realize that ’she’ is but a high-end water pistol prototype that not only shoots out water but uses it to propel itself as well. Individual joints on the snake are able to handle up to 1,450 psi of water pressure, allowing it to move about constantly without flailing all over the place like a rogue garden hose.

Lego V8 32-Valve Engine

Lego V8 32-Valve Engine
Is there nothing Lego cannot build? Guess not, as some hardcore Lego fans have managed to come up with an actual working electronic V8 engine that was created entirely from Lego Technic pieces. It took the inventor approximately half a year to come up with this, but I must say, the result is stunning to say the least. Good thing it doesn’t need any grease to run as things could get really messy from there onwards. (Read the full post about ‘Lego V8 32-Valve Engine’…)

Aurora Lights Up The Way

Aurora Lights Up The Way
Fires tend to cut off all power in a building, leaving firefighters at a disadvantage with little light to see through the flames. Enter the Aurora hose nozzle concept that features an internal turbine which in turn powers eight LEDs that will light up to refract off the water stream, effectively illuminating the immediate area that makes the firefighter’s job all the more easy. No idea if this concept from Duck Image Studio will ever take off, but it is worth considering since lives are at stake here. (Read the full post about ‘Aurora Lights Up The Way’…)

iPhone Gets Facebook 2.0

iPhone Gets Facebook 2.0
Here’s yet another reason to pick up an iPhone/iphone 3G if you don’t already have one - Facebook 2.0 is now available via the iPhone App Store. This new version will include overviews of what’s going on in Facebook, including News Feed, Live Feed, Events, Notifications and others. Not only that, you’re able to see those new tabs in Facebook’s revamped design, in addition to the ability to both post and tag photos from your iPhone. One of the more interesting aspects is refreshing the page simply by shaking the iPhone - a novelty that’ll wear off in due time, but convenient to say the least. Folks who aren’t iPhone users but use the mobile Facebook version will miss out on this though. (Read the full post about ‘iPhone Gets Facebook 2.0′…)

Dell S1909WX And S1709W Introduced
Dell has released two more displays for the desktop in the form of the S1909WX and the S1709W. Both displays will share a 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1,440 x 900, which means you can’t use it to play back your movies in full HD if you’re rocking to a Blu-ray drive. Despite that, either monitor can be wall-mounted thanks to a VESA mount. The former targets a wide audience with 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 300cd/m2 brightness, while the latter is more suitable for the business market thanks to its 600:1 contrast ratio and 250cd/m2 brightness. You can pick up the S1909WX for $199 while the smaller S1709W is slightly cheaper at $179. (Read the full post about ‘Dell S1909WX And S1709W Introduced’…)

Blood bag cell phone strap is just what the doc ordered

Blood bag cell phone strap is just what the doc ordered
What is the one thing that you should always carry with you in case of an emergency? A bottle of your own blood, of course! Of course not. What we’re suggesting here is something lighter - the idea of carrying a bag of blood-like liquid with your blood type printed boldly on it. And you wear the Blood Drip Cellphone Strap on your cell phone or other small gadget. If you live in Japan, where some believe that your blood type is indicative of your personality, this cell phone strap can signal a subtle hint regarding your character to someone you’re trying to impress. According to this belief about a blood group-personality connection, my worst traits are that I am critical and indecisive. OLPC Give One Get One sales confirmed to begin on November 17
Despite some earlier reports that Amazon would begin sales of the next XO laptop Give One Get One program on November 1, it looks like that date was off by a few weeks.  The latest information, along with confirmation from the OLPC foundation is that sales will begin on November 17.  That’s a bit longer to wait than we originally expected, but on the bright side that just gives us a little longer to put some money aside. DXG and Geotate team on geotagging video camera

DXG and Geotate team on geotagging video camera
by Nilay Patel, posted Sep 29th 2008 at 11:13AM We’re still waiting for geotagging to go mainstream on consumer-level still cams, but Geotate isn’t waiting around in its quest for location-aware domination — it’s teamed up with DXG to develop the first geotagging video camera we’ve seen. The camera itself isn’t anything special — it’s just another average DXG HD cam, based on the DVH586 — but the geotagging is powered by Geotate’s Yuma software, which does most of the heavy lifting on the server at import, so we’d expect it to be pretty robust.
