Steve Jobs personally responding to email?

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in gadgets.

As if Steve Jobs wasn’t busy enough being the CEO of Apple and Pixar, it seems he also likes dipping his toes into customer service. An article by the Silicon Alley Insider shows some examples of Steve Jobs responding personally to individual emails by customers. Many of the emails deal with comments or criticism about the new iphone or ipod Touch.

Steve has been busy notifying customers about software updates which should address some bugs or even responding to an inquiry about using the iPhone 3G as a tethered modem, which Jobs responded to by saying that Apple was in talks with AT&T about it.

Internet traffic taking alternate routes around United States

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in gadgets.

It looks like the U.S. is beginning to lose its status as the crossroads of the Internet as it seems that many countries and international companies are beginning to route traffic around the United States. The startling findings come from a New York Times article by John Markoff.

Markoff points out that the reason many countries are looking to route their traffic around the U.S. is because we seem to be known for wanting to spy on foreign and business communications. Some of these abilities were granted as a part of the Patriot Act or through National Security Agency programs.

Asus bamboo series laptop christened
There has been talk and details about the newest laptop from Asus, mostly centered around the material it’s made from; bamboo. Admittedly this isn’t the first time that bamboo has been used as a computer case (Dell intro’s super-small, eco-friendly bamboo Green desktop PC) but it may be the first time for a laptop, and it does look interesting. First off, it doesn’t look too ugly, it manages to retain the sleek look of metal while offering a kind of warmth, doubled by the fact that you know its slightly more environmentally friendly. The Ghetto Blaster Tote features working speakers

Plantronics releases GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset

Written by admin on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 in gadgets.

Plantronics has recently introduced the GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset that brings virtual 5.1 surround sound effects to both ears. While purists might argue that it is travesty to attempt virtual 5.1 surround sound effects through a pair of headphones as it won’t sound as good as the real thing, many people are willing to settle for less. Just take a look at the MP3 format - it surely loses out to CD quality, but then again MP3 is a real tour de force that looks set to stay on for many years since it is deemed ‘good enough’ by the masses.

Space Shuttle may get another five years
NASA may be backing down on its firm stance that it will retire the Space Shuttle fleet in 2010. Though the next fleet of spacecraft to be used by NASA won’t be ready until 2015, it had been NASA’s intention to catch rides with Russia to the International Space Station until then. Well, that was before Russia invaded Georgia and started drawing some political lines in the sand with the United States. Now, since Russia could always use space rides as a political bargaining chip in the future, NASA is about ready to perform a study to analyze what would need to be done to keep the Space Shuttle fleet in service until 2015. Logitech Illuminated Keyboard Review
Illuminated (back-lit) keyboards are usually associated with gaming, but Logitech’s Illuminated Keyboard is simply for those who want an agreeable typing experience on a nicely designed keyboard. If you like to work in a dark environment, having a backlit keyboard is convenient.
